HIDDEN BIAS IS A ROADBLOCK TO FINDING COMMON GROUND

Mistaken beliefs about Sikh Americans surged after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Sikhs encountered hate crimes, public backlash and racial profiling because of their religious articles of faith.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Community Relations Service wanted to address this complex issue head on. It needed assistance to clear away misconceptions about Sikhism for law enforcement agencies across the country.

Our solution was an instructional film to spark engagement as well as foster trust between law enforcement and community. The film served as a critical multi-agency training resource and gained national success through its message of finding common ground across differences.
